XR Stage Design Platform shortlisted for the FEDORA Next Stage Grant
Our XR Stage Design Platform project has been shortlisted for the first edition of the Fedora Next Stage Grants.
The XR Stage Design Platform enables the simulation of artistic designs in a virtual world and improves communication between for example a director and a set designer. For shared productions, any preliminary sketches can be simulated in their intended surroundings to streamline design and planning. Instead of sending CAD images, simulation allows people to step into virtual reality and walk together on the stage.
Opera Beyond is developing the XR Stage Design Platform together with virtual reality studio Zoan, virtual and mixed reality tools producer Varjo and in the future also with Insta Automation, Stara Zagora State Opera and Aalto University.
The 15 shortlisted projects in the field of opera and dance are innovative through sustainability, inclusivity or digital transformation. The jury will decide which of the projects will receive the grant money of €250,000. The grant recipients will be announced in Prague in June 2022 on the occasion of Opera Europa’s Spring Conference. Keeping our fingers crossed!
