As the new year starts and our hopes are up for soon getting through these difficult times, we are ready to announce the program of the first edition of Opera Beyond Jam Sessions and happy to invite you to join us!

Opera Beyond Jam Sessions are a series of interactive online events, in which we exchange thoughts and share best practices that we’ve learned from having found ourselves at the crossroads of performing arts and new digital technology.

The curated program includes inspirational master classes from visiting speakers, concrete case studies from various organizations and open discussion between all participants. The first edition of the Jam Sessions takes place on Zoom, Thursday February 4th, at 15:00-17:00 CET (or 16:00-18:00 Finnish time). Participation is free of charge.

The program includes:

MASTER CLASS from Peter Maniura, award winning director, digital consultant and IMZ Academy Director. In his presentation, titled “A brave new world?”, Maniura looks at the opportunities and challenges which digital innovation offers the Performing Arts in re-imagining our creative work and in connecting with audiences in this time of pandemic and beyond.

CASE STUDY of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet’s immersive LAILA production, winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2020, presented by composer, conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, the FNOB’s artistic director Lilli Paasikivi and the Opera Beyond project manager Annastina Haapasaari.

INTERACTIVE FORUM – a free form discussion and exchange between participants.
